Important Information around UK Roller Derby Returning to Play
Good evening UK Roller Derby Community,
The UK Government recently released new guidelines for England which include a Return to Recreational Team Sport Framework (which can be found here)
https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... -framework
In order for roller derby to restart in England, the UKRDA as your National Governing Body (NGB) will need to develop a Return to Work plan and submit it to the UK Government for approval.
More important details can be found below but this is where we need your help.
We are working with British Championships to form a Working Group to develop the Return to Play Guidelines for presentation and hopefully approval by the Department of Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS). We are looking for volunteers to join the Working Group to ensure we have a wide range of experience and capacity to ensure we develop the guidelines as thoroughly and practically as possible.
It will help if you have worked in Policy, Governance, Health and Safety and/or Risk Assessments either at a league or professional level, however it is not a requirement.
You are also not required to be a Member of a UKRDA Member League as this effects Leagues regardless of their Membership Status.
We will be utilising all available resources to us including our connection with WFTDA, and information and resources from Sport England and other NGBs.
If you are interested in been part of this Working Group and/or if you have some useful material, you would like to share with us then you can do so via this Form

As we are all keen to get back to training we want to set this group up quickly and so the deadline for applications is midnight Sunday 19th July.
Additional Details for League to take note of
It is important to note that at this stage this only relates to England. We are still waiting to hear what the requirements will be from the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish Governments and we will review and respond to requirements as they become clear.
As stated by the UK Government, all sports should ensure that sessions comply with the relevant National Governing Body Safeguarding Policies and Procedures and conduct a thorough risk assessment which should be included as part of the action plan. Particular consideration needs to be given to children and young people under the age of 18 and vulnerable adults who may be less able to understand or maintain social distancing discipline
Each club must only return to sport when they have the appropriate measures in place as developed by the NGB and general government guidance in relation to recreational sport.

Guidance for team sports that has been cleared by PHE/HSE will be linked on GOV.UK. If guidance is not linked on GOV.UK, then the sport has not been cleared to restart.
Insurance
We also advise that all Leagues contact their Insurance Providers for information around where they stand with returning to play, including skating outdoors.
For our UKRDA Members who have insurance through the UKRDA offer, we are in discussions with our insurers to provide more information on return to play and insurance cover. In the meantime please be reminded that you are required to adhere to the Risk Management Guidelines which covers both Outdoors and Indoor.
As more government guidelines are released, we will also continue to update our Forum
